The Jamaica Carnival train continued its journey towards Soca supremacy. Already making stops at fun-filled events such as “Blocko” and “Bacchanal Jouvert”, the train had one more stopover before reaching its final destination of the annual “Road March”.

Before arriving at Jamaica’s grandest Soca street party, DancehallSoca.com (Caribbean Lifestyle Media) had to touch down in the most talked about ultra-inclusive fete in Kingston, “Frenchmen Bazodee”.

This particular event’s reputation had clearly preceded it as it was the number one topic of discussion while many an exhausted Jouvert reveller vigorously removed paint from their bodies.  “What time are you going later?” “What are you planning to wear”? “Where can I get extra tickets?”… These were the questions all of our sleepy Soca-holic counterparts frantically asked regarding the Saturday night extravaganza known as “Bazodee”.

Many partygoers advised that we should go to this fete early in order to have enough energy to take part in the Road March the following day. However, as our media team arrived, we could see numerous vehicles lining the streets surrounding the venue, as well droves of eager fetters chipping towards the gate with an evident agenda to “party hard” until the wee hours of Carnival Sunday morning.

Bazodee was held at a large private residence in the affluent neighbourhood of Cherry Gardens, Kingston.

With spacious bar and food areas, the party gave all attendees their own personal space to relax and breakaway at their own convenience. The major front yard served as the dance floor area where all the party goers congregated in between their sampling of the premium food and drink options offered at the fete. The dance floor came complete with lighting fixtures which brought a real, unique fete vibe and also its own long bar, allowing the dance enthusiasts the luxury of not having to venture far for drinks.

This being our first Bazodee experience, the DancehallSoca team was not only surprised but pleased to see wide array of mouth watering delicacies available at this all inclusive affair. Some examples of the catered treats on hand were bake and shark, polourhie, saheenas, spaghetti, samosas, buss up shut, curried goat, roast leg of lamb and an assortment of deserts including fruit, cakes and donuts.

It must be mentioned that even with a massive crowd of Jamaican and foreign based Soca junkies in attendance the service at the food stalls and drink bars was top of the line and always accompanied by a pleasant smile. This made for a pleasant experience during every refreshment top-up break.

With regards to beverages, Bazodee only offered the best.

Everything from Appleton and Heineken to Smirnoff and Baileys was made available by the Frenchmen committee and as we say in the Caribbean all drinks were “flowing like rain” all night long.

As the crowd partied the night away to the music of DJ Smoke out of the Renaissance Sound System, well known personalities could be seen swaying to the Soca sound, such as Miss Universe 1998 Wendy Fitzwilliam, Soca stars Shurwayne Winchester, Dawg-E-Slaughter, Michelle Xavier and Ricardo Drue (from big band Imij and Company) and Soca Ambassador and noted Carnival event MC, Giselle D Wassi One.

Frenchmen Bazodee 2010 was nothing short of a pleasurable experience for all involved.

The surroundings were comfortable, the amenities were of the highest standards and the layout and crowd were first-rate. The major consensus by many attendees was that the Frenchmen committee should explore the possibility of executing a similar event during Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival festivities.

Once again we thank Mr. Ian Wong for extending media access to our team and for all his hospitality and assistance during our coverage.

DancehallSoca.com… Carnival we love you!!!
